work work work...
I started shooting for the new Rose City Fix book last week. I like that it's set in my home town so i can spend more time shooting. I'd like to have all the photography done by mid fall. I'm not in a huge rush to finish the project. Hopefully, it'll involve more fixed gear kids. So far i've met some rad people and i'm sure i'll meet many more. In typical fashion, aaron and i have already started talking about where we would like to shoot the next book: Vancouver B.C., Boston, Brooklyn?

Listening to:
Swervedriver - Mezcal Head
Philip Glass - The Hours
Cursed - I, II, III
Interpol - Our Love to Admire
watching:
Alfred Hitchcock
I'm not there
Batman
Hellboy II
Reading:
The Good Book
Evil and the Justice of God

"I drag my chains they don't drag me"

The starter in my car went out on my way to work this morning. As i pulled out of my drivway my car started smoking like crazy and smelling like lung cancer. Luckily i made it to an auto shop before it totally died. So, i ended up paying $600 to fix my car and in return i got to take the day off work and ride my bike around the city taking photos and drowning my sorrows in coffee. As i was riding around thinking about what horrible luck i've had this last year i came to the conclusion that the camel's broken back was the fault of the camel, not the straw.
This isn't to say that things are all bad. I get a proof of The Rain City Fix book in 6 days, I'm finishing my right sleeve later today, and last night i had the first bbq of the season. So, there's that.

Being off work has been refreshing, to say the least. This is the longest break i've had from work since around 2002. It was like i forgot things happen durning the day on weekdays.
Yesterday I watched The Bridge: A documentary about people who killed themselves by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge in 2004. It was interviews of family members and friends of the people who jumped along with footage of people actually jumping. Despite how tragic these stories were the films was captivating to say the least. and, if you can handle it, I’d highly suggest watching this movie.

more reflections
So, i had a bike accident and broke my wrist. When i went into work this morning they told me it was against their policy to have someone in a cast working there. So, it looks like i have the next 4 weeks off, paid. It's been a long time since i've had so much free time. I've finished the photo editing for the Rain City Fix book and i'm working on a new project with Colin. I'm really excited to get it started. He is someone who really challenges me as photographer. I'll have more details about the project soon.
recent playlist:
weakerthans - reunion tour
sunno))) - black one
frodus - and we washed our weapons in the sea
