This is Matt and Britton. I got an e-mail from Matt a few weeks ago. He had heard about the Rain City book and since he and his wife Britton had met in a small fixed gear community in Iowa they wanted to be in the book. I met up with them Friday afternoon and shot some photos for the book. Definitely the nicest people I’ve met in a long time.

Rachel Lynch runs Rabit Lion and makes rad hats and other wonderful things by hand. You can check them out here. I've honestly worn mine every day since i got it. So, try to get your hands on one.

Structure

I was really hoping to watch the inauguration today. However, I’m at work and the powers that control the Providence Heath System have blocked all forms of streaming media on my PC. I was able to set up a radio in my office and listen to most of Obama’s speech.

In other news, Bob the angry tattooed vulgar lawyer is in town this week on business. It’s always good to hang out with him, talk bikes, and make fun of each other over a few beers.

That’s that.

I'm listening to:

Heiress - Demo
Indian - Sights and Abuse
The Jesus and Mary Chain - Psychocandy

My friends, David and Mike, have stared a new band called The Reed Sea. It's great. I can't wait until they start playing shows.

Fight or Flight

I took the day off from work yesterday. I rode my bike around the city taking photos with Jerry. I had to take advantage of the sun before we return to our regularly scheduled program of non-stop rain.

If you live in Seattle or happen to be there soon, my good friend and partner in all thing Rain/Rose City Fix,
Aaron Edge, is showing some paintings of birds at the Wayward Cafe. Go check them out; he is a great man and fantastic artist.

The Birds:

While on a bike ride after work yesterday I caught some birds fighting over some crumbs. As it turns out, birds are not very nice to each other.

Inside the Hawthorn Bridge.

I got really excited when I heard the news of a new Morrissey record and supporting tour. However, my excitement quickly went away when I saw that there are no west coast dates on the tour. No love from Moz. The single for the new record has been released but I’m putting of listening to it until I have the whole record.

In better news, there was actually no rain last night. So, for the first time in weeks, I didn’t get soaking or have a near death experience due to ice and snow while riding my bike.

Also, I got new glasses and my mom’s old sewing machine.

For the last few weeks i've been addicted to The Big Picture
and A Daily Dose of Imagry. Both websites have amazing and inspiring photography.

My friend, organizer of the monthly fixed gear event Future Tense, and all around rad dude from Seattle, Zach Hoffner, made some new shirts. You should go buy one here. They have reflective ink on them. Safety First!

Here are a few of my favorite photos from 2008. It was an interesting year, to say the least. I've never known how blessed i am to have such amazing siblings. Here are a few highlights from this year

1. Wednesday night family dinners.

2. Living by myself.

3. My bike.

4. Publishing the Rain City Fix.

5. Great friends

I'm looking forward to 2009. A few goals are:

1. Finish and publish the Rose City Fix.

2. Complete work on my third photo book that is tentatively titled "The Lion and the Snake".

3. Drive less - Bike more

4. Make new relationships, deepen current relationships, become enemies with no one.

5. Talk less, listen more, pay closer attention.

6. Less job more photography.
