I saw No Country For Old Men last night. I went in with high hopes and ended up loving every minute of it. It was beautifully shot, very dark and ominous. Kinda made me want to take a trip to texas just to shoot landscapes (which also might give me a good excuse to visit Colin). I was in suspense from beginning to end. I also saw trailers for the new Coppola film, Youth Without Youth and P.T. Anderson's new movie, There Will Be Blood. I'm really excited for both films.
Playlist so far today:
Neurosis - The Sun That Never Sets
Das Oath - S/T
Philip Glass - The Hours

Towers to heaven:
there is there is no us vs them...only us.
"This line is metaphysical
And on the one side, on the one side
The bad half live in wickedness
And on the other side, on the other side
The good half live in arrogance
And there's a steep slope
With a short rope
This line is metaphysical
And there's a steady flow
Moving to and fro
Oh, look you earned your wings
Are you an angel, now
Or a vulture
Constantly hovering over
Waiting for a big mistake
Oh, my God, what have I done?
Oh, my God, what have I done?
Wouldn't you love to be
On the cover of a magazine?
Healthy skin, perfect teeth
Designed to hide what lies beneath
I feel the darkness growing stronger
As you cram light down my throat
How does that work out for you
In your holy quest to be above reproach?"

February always finds you folding
Local papers open to the faces
Passed away to wonder what they're holding
In those hands we're never shown the places
Formal photographs refuse to mention
His tiny feet, that birthmark on her knee
The tyranny of framing our attention
With all the eyes their eyes no longer see
And darkness comes too early, you won't find
The many things you owe these latest dead:
A borrowed book, that cheque you didn't sign
The tools to be believed with, be beloved
Give what you can to keep, to comfort this
Plain fear you can't extinguish or dismiss

Passed away to wonder what they're holding
